The Office of Vital Records in Delaware is in charge of most marriage records and licenses. Delaware’s Office of Vital records prefers most of the marriage licensing to be done in person which is why they have main forms available but you are required to go to a walk-in office to be able to get the actual certificate and pick up anything that you may need.
Some information that you may need to be able to get a marriage license or receive a copy of a marriage record:
• The name of the groom
• The name of the bride prior to the wedding and after the wedding (also known as married name and maiden name.)
• The birthday of both parties
• If the person themselves are filling out the form or if it is a family member
• The address where copies of the marriage certificate will be sent
• And a daytime telephone number
